Homedics Clock Radio
The Homedics clock radio range has features that a lot
of other clock radios simply do not have.
For example, every Homedics clock radio has a built-in sound
machine. What this means is that they have six soothing nature
sounds that can help people relax and even fall
asleep. These sounds are night (crickets), ocean, brook, rain,
sunrise and waterfall.
In case you're wondering what a sunrise sounds like, as we
were, Homedics has cheated a little and played some serene
new-age style music for this setting. It should be mentioned
that some of the models have different sounds, such as
thunderstorm and heartbeat.
You may be thinking that you can't really afford the extra
features of having a sound machine in your clock radio, but you
may be surprised. The SoundSpa Classic SS-4500 has a
recommended retail price of only $29.99 and is not
only a fully featured clock radio, but includes a sound machine
and time projector. This will project the time on the ceiling
or wall (the projection angle is adjustable) so that if you
wake in the middle of the night you will be able to see the
time in large projected digits. This is much easier
and more convenient to read than having to roll-over or
lift your head to see the much smaller digits on the
clock. This should also make it much easier to slip back into
sleep rather than perhaps having to sit
up or put on reading glasses to check the time.
For only $10 more, at a recommended retail price
of $39.99 you can get the next model up called the
Homedics SoundSpa Premier SS-5000. It has all of the features
already mentioned plus this unit will measure the temperature
indoors and outdoors using a remote sensor. This Homedics clock
radio will project both the time and temperature. So if
you sometimes wake up and wonder "is it hot in here?" or
"do I have a fever?" - you'll have a better idea right away by
immediately seeing the displayed temperature. Other
features include dual alarms and automatic time adjustment
using the atomic time feature. It will also automatically
adjust the time for daylight savings changes.
The Homedics clock radio range doesn't stop there. There are
models that have integrated an iPod dock. This means that
your iPod can now be used to supply sounds to your clock
radio functions, such as falling asleep to music or waking
to your favorite track on your iPod. Having the iPod
feature effectively 'future-proofs' your Homedics clock radio
because you are no longer limited to the built-in sounds. For
example, you could put a recording of the crackling sound from
a fireplace on your iPod. Now you have the unlimited sound
capabilities from your Homedics clock radio sound machine.
